'1922' Trailer: The Dead Don't Stay Dead

As a Stephen King agnostic myself, I have remained largely indifferent to the ubiquity of King-related film and television content this year. This hasn’t been easy, as 2017 is angling — as aggressively as possible — to be the Year of Stephen King. I feel as though I’ve been bombarded with promos for (and breathless articles about) “The Dark Tower,” “It,” “The Mist,” and, to a lesser extent, “Mr. Mercedes” and “Gerald’s Game” for the past few months, and I don’t anticipate the King social media hype to die down anytime soon.

For those of you who can never get enough Stephen King-related content, I bring you good tidings of yet another upcoming Stephen King adaptation: “1922.” Here’s the official synopsis for Netflix‘s upcoming film version of King’s 2010 novella:

1922 is based on Stephen King’s 131-page storytelling of a man’s confession of his wife’s murder. The tale is told from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story’s unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.

Sounds distinctly Kingy, don’t it? “1922” stars Thomas Jane as James and Molly Parker as his ghostly wife. It is directed by Zak Hilditch and is scheduled to drop on Netflix on October 20th following its premiere at Fantastic Fest.
