2016 New York Film Festival Lineup Adds Films From Barry Jenkins, Kelly Reichardt, Kenneth Lonergan, Much More

With the Toronto International Film Festival and Venice Film Festival getting their respective lineups solidified, now it’s time for the New York Film Festival to unveil what will be coming to the Big Apple this fall. The fest has already teased a trio of great pictures, with Ava DuVernay‘s documentary “The 13th” to open proceedings, Mike Mills‘ “20th Century Women” screening as the Centerpiece selection, while James Gray‘s “The Lost City Of Z” will close it out. But what will be filling up the other slots?

Today, festival organizers have revealed what else is coming to NYFF in 2016, and it’s some great stuff. Two movies we definitely have our eye on are “Moonlight” from Barry Jenkins and “The Rehearsal” from Alison Maclean. The former is the director’s first feature since 2008’s “Medicine For Melancholy,” while the latter sees the filmmaker returning for her first feature since 2009’s “Jesus’ Son.” Elsewhere, the lineup is stacked with acclaimed films that have played at Sundance, Berlin and Cannes, making this a pretty great cinephile event.

The New York Film Festival runs from September 30th to October 16th.
