Well, credit to the folks behind The Black List for making writing a lede for this pretty damn easy. So here goes: this morning, the Golden Globes nominations were announced, and now come the scripts that are hoping to collect accolades once Hollywood decides to make them.
For now, they’ll kick around as the best unmade screenplays in Hollywood as part of annual The Black List. The criteria is that these screenplays will not be in production this year, but some of them are already well on their way. “Newsflash” just got David Gordon Green and Seth Rogen attached for a spring start, while list topper “Ruin” has Justin Kurzel and Gal Gadot linked.
However, it turns out if you want to get some attention from industry, write a biopic. The Black List features a pretty remarkable amount of true story movies including movies about J.K. Rowling, John Hughes, Elon Musk, David Prowse, Richard Nixon’s personal secretary Rose Mary Wood, Alex Haley, Elaine May and Mike Nichols, Sadako Sasaki, the dudes behind Google, Nancy Wake, William Wyler and more.
There is also a movie about the DNC hack.
