2018 Golden Globes Nods Reactions from Nick Jonas, Emma Stone, more

The Hollywood Foreign Press announced the nominations for the 75th Golden Globes this morning and, as you’d expect, the recipients were overjoyed. Here’s a sample of this year’s reactions.

“This is good news for Albert Einstein. I believe in science. I also believe in the complexity of humankind. I am honored to be in the company of fellow nominees who, with their artistry, have strived to define the multiplicity of dimensions in the male experience.
Geoffrey Rush, “Genius,” Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film

“I am so overjoyed to be nominated for both my role as Florence and for the song ‘Mighty River.’ Dee created such an incredible film and special character for me to play. In fact ‘Mudbound’ inspired me so much, I was able to write and sing Mighty River. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this honor.”
Mary J. Blige, “Mudbound,” Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song – “Mighty River”
Snubs and Surprises of the 75th Golden Globes nominations

“I feel very honored. Films are like days. Some days are better than others. And this is a very good day! ‘In The Fade’ is based on a very personal need for catharsis, a feeling which many people all over the world seem to share. I am also very grateful to Diane Kruger for her striking performance which contributed so much to the film. And a big thanks to the HFPA and to all the other great films and directors I share this nomination with.”
Fatih Akin, director of “In The Fade” – Best Foreign Language Film

“Jessica and I are thrilled to be representing Molly’s Game at the Golden Globes. By recognizing our work the HFPA has recognized the work of roughly two-hundred technicians, carpenters, painters, designers, editors, engineers, musicians and actors—particularly Idris Elba and Kevin Costner– to say nothing of our producers and STX. I’d like to send a personal congratulations to Jessica, who straps the movie to her back in the first scene and doesn’t put it down until the end credits roll and who brings this unique movie heroine to spectacular life. Thank you to the HFPA and congratulations to all the nominees.”
Aaaron Sorkin, “Molly’s Game,” Original Screenplay

Jessica Chastain, “Molly’s Game,” Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama

“Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press for nominating ‘This Is Me.’ It’s a song about acceptance and empowerment that is elevated by the incredible performance of Keala Settle and The Greatest Showman cast. It was an honor to work with the incredibly talented team on this film, including director Michael Gracey, Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and all involved. And of course, congratulations to all of our fellow nominees!”
Benji Pasek and Justin Paul, “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman,” Best Original Song

Jordan Peele, director of “Get Out,” Best Picture – Drama

“I am so honored and proud to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. ‘GLOW’ has been such a labor of love and I’m very excited that ‘The Disaster Artist’ and ‘The Post’ also got recognized this morning.”

“I want to thank the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this honor, and to also thank and congratulate Martin McDonagh, my friend and collaborator, for bringing Dixon, Mildred, and the characters of ‘Three Billboards’ to the screen. It is both exciting and humbling to be joined by Willem, Armie, Christopher and Richard, all of whom I have admired for many years. I am thrilled for Fran, Martin, Carter and the cast and crew who made Three Billboards.”
