There's a buzz a'brewing, and Girls Guns and Glory are well worth the hype. Heartbreaking country influenced rock and roll songs make for an agreeable combination, and the four members of this band have more than enough talent to back it up. One listen to this album makes it obvious that these guys have mastered their instruments.
They use their talent to craft some incredible songs, full of texture and depth. There isn't much simplicity to a Girls Guns and Glory song, which adds such an interest level. There are a lot of things that catch the ear, pleasing as a familiar surrounding, preventing multiple listens from getting boring. Whether they're playing a tearjerking ballad or an upbeat number that will get couples dancing on the floor, Girls Guns and Glory pull it off damn near flawlessly. Ward Hayden's voice is the obvious focal point, and its a driving piece of the band. His lyrics sound very country, as does his voice. Its hard to believe that he's from Boston, as his voice sounds Southern as they come.
This is a sincere sounding album, which is the appealing factor with Girls Guns and Glory. These are songs that parents can enjoy with their kids; knowing no age boundries. A good song is a good song, and Girls Guns and Glory present 11 good songs on Inverted Valentine.
