Japanther-Tut Tut Now Shake Ya Butt

Japanther remind me a lot of FYP, complete with juvenile sounding songs that are actually deeper than they sound, and a playful demeaner. Japanther separate themselves with a very artsy approach to the songs, featuring spoken word (provided by former Crass drummer Penny Rimbaud) tracks ("Africa Seems So Far Away" and "I the Indigene") and some dance sounds. Their low fi recording makes it sound 20 years old, which is part of its charm, and their seemingly simple approach to songwriting intrigues me. The songs are catchy, tailor made for fans of Recess Records' artists or Screeching Weasel, etc, and Japanther make them sound super fun without being sophmorish.
