Lair of the Minotaur-War Metal Battle Master
Southern Lord
March 25, 2008

I was so stoked when this album arrived in the mail, but managed to lose it later that day, quickly ending any sense of stokiness. I found it a few months later, with the plastic stuck under another CD. Restoked, I spent some time rocking out to this album, trying to make up for misplaced opportunities.

Lair of the Minotaur give the listener plenty to rock out to. This album is doctor's wet dream, as people are bound to throw something out of whack slamming along to these songs. These are some of the heaviest songs I've heard in awhile, as the band sound like they are playing with hammers and chainsaws to add an extra dose of beef to the album. They are a metal band, but they are so much more in the process; most of all, unique. While the music is full of technical and tight playing, brutality (but not in a Hatebreed sense) is their forte, writing songs that make people want to slam their heads against something out of pure adrenaline.

This was specifically written for people who don't understand the meaning of the term "lower the music, please." Lair of the Minotaur play harsh music or harsh no nonsense people, with War Metal Battle Master being more proof to that fact. This is an album that will appeal to fans of metal, punk, hardcore, grind, crust and so much more.
