Now Sleepyhead-Nocturne
Exotic Fever
July 26, 2008

Both the band name and the album title fit this band perfectly. Now Sleepyhead is full of driving lullabies that are lush, beautiful and a little bit scary. Nocture is similar to a band dream that you don't want to end. Everything is held back, using acoustic guitars and the emotional vocals (I think-the band shares vocal duties) Oura Sananikone, not to mention pianos, drums, bass and various other instruments, to write an album on the upside of beautiful.

Nocture is full of music that makes you want to take outside on a clear night and listen to while the universe does its thing high above your head. Some may call it shoegazer music, but I think Now Sleepyhead are beyond that comparison. They are a band good enough to be in their own category that I quite think of a name for right now.

I love the light guitar work while the drumming fills in the holes and the bass keeps the low end going strong. I love how the band works out the vocal lines, with everyone working together to keep things as beautiful as possible. I love everything about this band. I enjoy bands like this for a little while before putting them away, but I see Now Sleepyhead getting played for a long time.
