Pour Habit-Suiticide
Fat Wreck
May 26, 2009

A lot of really good punk albums have been released this year, and (not to brown nose) Fat has put a lot of those out. That being said, Suiticide, has been one of my favorite releases I've heard this year, even if it was actually released two years earlier and rereleased to the masses back in May by Fat. They are everything I look for in a melodic punk band: strong vocals with lyrics that aren't cringe worthy ("Bad Luck Drunk" is close, but the speed makes up for it), drums that are faster than a motorcycle accident waiting to happen and guitar/bass work that is both interesting and keeps everything together. The songs need to be tight and make me want to sing along and have trouble listening to something else. Suiticide does this and more (think The Offspring at their very best fast songs but with more talent, emotion and a heavier edge), and my only hope is that more people pick up on Pour Habit, as they are one of the most underrated bands I have ever heard. I yearn to hear new bands that make me excited like this.
