The Saint Alvia Cartel
Stomp
June 24, 2008

Fans knowing that The Saint Alvia Cartel feature former members of Boys Night Out and Grade will be a little surprised to hear this if they were expecting similar sounds (I fully understand that this was a cliche and cop out opening sentence, but I'm tired). Instead, The Saint Alvia Cartel (not the most fun band name to type) play a variety of styles; so many styles that it'd almost be too much if they didn't pull them off so well.

I would say that the biggest influene of this band was Rancid's ...And Out Come the Wolves (an album I need to find), which is a direct influence of The Clash (I hear a lot of London Calling). From there, there are ska songs, straight up punk songs, pop songs; pretty much everything that you could think of from a punk and ska influenced rock band. The songs are all catchy, akin to a day full of sunshine, and upbeat. These are songs that can basically put the listener into a good mood, even if the plethora of styles may make the average head spin.
