This album is a classic in my eyes. Not only is the music full of alt country punk rock songs with a ton of energy and sing along qualities, but they have three potential songs of the year in "Come Back to Shelby," "No Shame" and "The Great Gravitron Massacre." Each song has a quality about it that I can listen to over and over again (especially "No Shame," with lyrics like: "There ain't no shame in just giving up and walking away" serving as a mantra for me recently), and I'm sure that others on this album will have that impact on me in the future.
The only unfortunate thing about seeing this band live before getting this album is that I heard the impact a keyboard player had for them, which is pretty lacking on here. Granted, these songs are all great without the keyboard, full of great licks and gruff vocals, but they would be that much better with the dance floor ability that the keyboards brought. Its a small complaint, but one that already has me salivating for their next album.
Two Cow Garage are soon to be a band name on everyone's tongue. These guys have a great ability for creating songs that can speak to the listener, writing lyrics that can reach down the deepest depths of the soul one minute, and then have the same listener singing "Na's" the next. The energy is off the map, and these songs are just a damn good time, even though some can have that sadness quality.
