'All I See Is You' Trailer: Blake Lively Gets Her Vision Back

Before Blake Lively becomes a certified action heroine following  2016’s surprise cultish hit, “The Shallows” with the MMA fighter movie “Bruised”, she’s dabbling in the indie scene with the drama “All I See Is You.” Having premiered at TIFF last year, it got lost in the buzz of films such as “Lion” and “Moonlight”. The Marc Forster (“World War Z”) film drew middling responses, with our own critic saying, “Take away Forster’s hard-working visual style, and what ‘All I See Is You’ essentially presents is a standard relationship drama, with two generic, privileged people at its heart who don’t become any more striking even as the tensions between the two gradually reach a breaking point.”

Regardless, there’s something to be said for watching an up and coming director find a style of his own, especially in a film such as this which allows for more stylish and risky filmmaking techniques. Lively and Jason Clarke make for an interesting dynamic and while the relationship drama may prove to be the driving force of the film, at least Forster and screenwriter Sean Conway (“Shameless” “Ray Donovan”) have approached it from a fresh point of view with thriller elements. Here’s the official synopsis:

Gina (Blake Lively) and husband James (Jason Clarke) have an almost perfect marriage. After being blinded as a child in a nearly fatal car crash that claimed her parent’s lives, Gina depends on James to be her eyes—a dependence that appears to solidify their passionate relationship.  She sees her world in her own vivid imagination with help from James’ descriptions. Despite her disability, the two enjoy a colorful existence in Bangkok, Thailand where James works in insurance and Gina explores life in a foreign country.  It seems the only real hardship this loving couple faces is difficulty conceiving a child but when Gina is given the opportunity to have a corneal transplant and regains her vision, their life and relationship are upended. Gina now sees the world with a new sense of wonder and independence which James finds threatening. It is only when Gina suddenly begins to lose her sight again that she finally realizes the disturbing reality of their marriage and their lives.

Co-starring Danny Huston and Yvonne Strahovski, the film will be released by Open Road Films on October 27th.
