Amy Winehouse Passes (Out?) On The New 007 Bond Theme

They tried to make me sing on a soundtrack and I said, no, no, no!

Snaggletoothed fug British vocalist Amy Winehouse will not be recording the new 007 Bond theme for the upcoming franchise installment, “Quantum of Solace” (officially the most pretentious Bond film title ever).

According to her right-hand man producer Mark Ronson, Winehouse has stopped working on the track and evidently in no shape to continue working on the track. Perpetually in some sort of drug or law problem, Winehouse had briefly cleaned up her act, but then last week she was arrested for assault after slapping a man in a bar. Evidently she’s fallen off the wagon and according to Ronson she is “not ready to record any music.” He alluded to the fact that she’s super fucked up again and that it would take “some miracle of science,” for her to finish the track.

All this comes one week after Ronson said he and Winehouse were still working on the theme. Film producers allegedly tried to use the apparently prestigious prospect of recording a Bond theme as a way for Winehouse to clean up her shoddy act.

Update: However, spokespeople for Winehouse are suggesting there’s some sort of clash between the two musicians. “Mark has presented a track to Amy, but she had other ideas about the direction it should take. She has always made her own decisions about her music. Needless to say, this is part of the process between artist and producer and we’re sure they will continue to make great music together.”

Sources stress that Winehouse’s health has nothing to do with the decision not to do the track. Some quacks over at Atlantic News 7 are claiming that the artist Valare is a “shoe-in” for this project and while we highly suspect that this is just promotional spam disguised as “news,” we’ll put it here just in case.
