A.R. Rahman and John Legend: The 'Slumdog' and 'Wall-E' Musical Medley

Peter Gabriel refused to participate in the truncated musical segment of the show that mashed two “Slumdog Millionaire” tunes and one “Wall-E” together into one 4-minute long medley and we can see why — but the musical moment of the show turned out to pretty damn good and enjoyable nonetheless. Sure, it would have been great to see Gabriel up there, “Down To The Earth,” is a fantastic song, but John Legend stepped in for him and did a pretty solid job. When they mixed the two melodies at the end, we didn’t even cringe or recoil. Who knew? Anyone seen the In Memoriam section on youtube yet?

Here’s the musical part of the show that stunk. Beyonce joined Hugh Jackman and other nobodies (Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron) it became a corny showtunes extravaganza that reeked of old and outdated Hollywood. We suppose with the theme of the night being some cabaret throwback, it had to happen, but this segment screamed bathroom break.
