'The Batman': Armie Hammer Refutes Rumors That He's Playing The Caped Crusader

Wishing for something doesn’t make it so, kids. Yesterday a totally real website called “Revenge of the Fans” reported it had exclusive news: “Armie Hammer Is In Final Talks To Be THE BATMAN.” Twitter, predictably, lost its mind, but in a string of unthreaded tweets, The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez said that it wasn’t happening according to his sources. Now, Hammer himself has spoken up to confirm that it’s not true in an interview with Yahoo Movies UK.

“No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I’m interested,” Hammer said while doing press for the UK release of “On the Basis of Sex.” “I don’t even know if they are done–they are still working on a script.”

For those keeping track, this is the second go-round for Hammer as a potential Batman. He was originally cast in George Miller‘s 2007 version of “Justice League,” which clearly never made it to the screen. Instead, we got Zack Snyder‘s 2017 critically reviledJustice League,” which is simply more proof that we’re living in the worst timeline. Thanks, Barry Allen.

Since Matt Reeves was announced as the director of “The Batman” and Ben Affleck confirmed multiple times that he is done wearing the cape, the internet has continued to speculate who will don the cowl next.

Gonzalez later tweeted, “Also, Armie Hammer is 32 and I’m also told the role of Bruce is going to be younger. There are no targeted names YET.”

Apropos of nothing, Daniel Kaluuya is 29, which is younger than 32. We’re just saying.
