BASEBALL PREVIEW 2006

Sure, the season is already a few games old and I've been slacking on writing this article, but that doesn't mean that I can't make half assed predictions with putting little to no thought into it. This will be a very interesting baseball season, mostly because of Barry Bonds. Love him or hate him (face it; most people hate the prick), his chase for the homerun record and steroids scandal will have a lot more people tuning in, possible to watch him both reach new heights and crash harder than a drunk driving accident.

The Roger Clemens wooing is already on, with four teams making sure his balls are nice and licked so that he'll hopefully pitch for their team. The Red Sox, Rangers and Yankees are frontrunners. Here's hoping he doesn't go to the Yankees, especially since they've done the least amount of wooing so far (though you don't need to woo when your payroll is higher than a city budget).

The games are always fun, and this year hasn't been any different. Here are my Season Standings Predictions:

American League East

1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
3. Toronto Blue Jays
4. Tampa Bay Devil Rays
5. Baltimore Orioles

National League East

1. Atlanta Braves
2. New York Mets
3. Philadelphia Phillies
4. Washinton Nations
5. Florida Marlins

American League Central

1. Cleveland Indians
2. Chicago White Sox
3. Minnesota Twins
4. Detroit Tigers
5. Kansas City Royals

National League Central

1. Chicago Cubs
2. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Milwaukee Brewers
4. Pittsburgh Pirates
5. Cincinnati Reds

American League West

1. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
2. Oakland Athletics
3. Texas Rangers
4. Seattle Mariners

National League West

1. Los Angeles Dodgers
2. San Diego Padres
3. San Fransisco Giants
4. Arizona Diamondbacks
5. Colorado Rockies

Up until a few minutes ago, I was going to have the St. Louis Cardinals winning the NL Central, but I'm a die hard Cubs fan and couldn't not predict my team to win the division. Because of that, I'm going all the way with my team: THE CHICAGO CUBS WILL WIN THEIR FIRST WORLD SERIES SINCE 1908! When that happens, I will weep and celebrate before booking a flight to Chicago to take part in their celebration parade. I predict that they will play the Wild Card making Red Sox, beating them in six games.

You may also notice that I've made no mention of the Houston Astros up until now. That is because I no will longer recognize them as a baseball team until they move their asses to the four team American League West. Its not fair that the Cubs have to compete with five other teams, especially when its the hated Astros who usually knock them out of the playoffs. Fuck them. They no longer exist.
