Quarter One Review (January-March)
2007

Jesus Christ this year is going by fast. Three months have already gone by and baseball season is two days away (this was written on March 31, 2007). I wish I had a pause button so I stop everything, or at least slow it down, giving me a chance to catch my breath and get some things accomplished. Music wise, there have been a lot of good releases that have kept me entertained these past three months.

TOP 5 OF QUARTER 1:

Alabama Thunderpussy-Open Fire: This is quite possibly going to the most balls to the wall heavy rock and roll metal album of the year. The songs are hard rocking and catchy, complete with a set of balls so big they need their own zip code. (Relapse)

Comeback Kid-Broadcasting...: Comeback Kid got themselves a new singer (after their old one quit), and upped their already great game by 100%. These songs are amazing, full of hardcore bliss that takes influences from bands like Snapcase and Modern Life is War. This is my album of the year at this point. (Victory)

Dying Fetus-War of Attrition: A great return to form for the (in my opinion) Kings of Death Metal with Breakdowns. The guitar lines are just ridiculous, with the constant up and down the neck fretwork that will make a guitar fans' head explode. (Relapse)

Hot Cross-Risk Revival: Hot Cross did not disappoint me in the slightest with this album that I seemed to have been waiting forever for. Great guitar leads, spastic drums and a vocalist who manages to tie everything together makes it clear why Hot Cross has taken the hearts of so many hardcore punk music fans. (Hope Division/Equal Vision)

Lifetime: I told myself that I was stoked that Lifetime was going to be making music again, as long as it didn't interfer with Paint it Black. Well, Paint it Black is releasing an album soon and this Lifetime record is absolutely wonderful. The songs are fast, catchy, melodic; pretty much what fans of Lifetime were expecting. (Decaydance/Fueled by Ramen)

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Big Business-Here Come the Waterworks; Coldworker-The Contaminated Void; Jesu-Conquerer;
Life in Your Way-Walking Giants; Rwake-Voices of Omens; The Tossers-Agony
