I've had to cut down on buying records in the past few months due to debt and the fact I wasn't really making all that much money in the first place, but I was still able to get my hands on some great music that came out between April and June.
I know that I'm a month late with this Quarterly Review, but I get lazy from time to time, and by that, I mean most of the time. I hope you enjoy this belated Quarterly Review.
TOP 10 ALBUMS OF APRIL, MAY and JUNE 2005
10. The Ratchets-Heart of Town: A modern day Clash. Hellbent
9. Darkest Hour-Undoing Ruin: Another masterpiece from this Americanized Swedish metal band that can do little to no wrong when it comes to brutal songwriting. Victory
8. Angel City Outcasts-Let it Ride: A punk band that brought me back to my teenage years of putting pins everywhere and stapling patches on my clothes because I couldn't sew. Thorp
7. The Forecast-Late Night Conversations: Similar to Rainer Maria, and just as good. The Female vocals of Shannon really make this band great. Victory
6. A Life Once Lost-Hunter: Its good to hear a band take a style of music and add their own approach to it. A Life Once Lost do just that, and it works very well for them. Ferret
5. Deadlock-Earth.Revolt: So good. Throw elements of black metal, death metal and hardcore in a blender, and you have this wonderful band. Lifeforce
4. Modern Life is War-Witness: Modern Life is War is the next big hardcore band, if not the next big thing altogether. Deathwish Inc.
3. Bane-The Note: Bane is a band that will never disappoint, and I think they wrote one of their best songs ever in "Swan Song" (though I hope this album isn't their swan song). Equal Vision
2. Bear vs. Shark-Terrowhawk: Honest music that should be listened to. I love bands that are sincere and have integrity. Equal Vision
1. Lucero-Nobody's Darlings: Here's another honest and sincere band that write amazing music. Ben Nichols' sad and whiskey soaked voice is incredible, as is the rest of the band. Liberty and Lament
Here are a few more albums that I enjoyed but didn't make the top 10: Amber Pacific-The Possibility and the Promise; Circa Survive-Juturna; Death by Stereo-Death for Life; Decahedron-2005; Demons and Wizards-Touched by the Crimson King; Bruce Dickinson-Tyranny of Souls, The Esoteric-With the Sureness of Sleepwalking and Funeral for a Friend-Hours; Hell Within-Asylum of the Human Predator; Kylesa-To Walk a Middle Course; Navies-An Estate; Saviours-Warship.
