'Avengers: Infinity War' Poster Teases Captain America's Nomad

In case you couldn’t hear the hooting, hollering and cheers all the way from San Diego, Comic Con took place over the weekend and fans were happily deluged with geek, fanboy, super hero and genre content. DC Films delivered some goods that impressed fans — a new “Justice League” trailer, news of a “Flash: Flashpoint” movie and more — but it was Marvel that once again stole the show according to every piece of social buzz you can imagine.

Thor Ragnarok” thrilled fans with a new trailer, “Black Panther” footage (which wasn’t shown online, but a poster was released) exhilarated audiences, but it was the teaser trailer for “Avengers: Infinity War,” already shown at D23, that apparently blew everyone away.

Despite some leaks (that Marvel’s special agents quickly deleted), Kevin Feige’s studio is keeping the ‘Infinity Wars’ trailer under lock and key. But the poster everyone’s talking about also apparently teases much of what we see in the trailer and eventual movie. Here’s the official synopsis:

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Here’s a random guess: given that the two posters are split left to right, perhaps these will be the two “teams” that are split up and or featured in the first film and then focused on in the second film? Who knows. Meanwhile, some of us *cough,* watched the leak and have to tell you: fans went nuts for Spider-Man in his new costume (which you can see at the end of “Spider-Man: Homecoming”). You can also see Chris Evans as his “Nomad” character – Steve Rogers as he abandons the Captain America mantle (which he did at the end of ‘Civil War’) — and a blonde-haired Scarlett Johansson as the White Widow.

Marvel’s epic will feature an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Sean Gunn (Rocket, Kraglin), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Benicio Del Toro (The Collector), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Winston Duke (M’Baku) and Peter Dinklage and Terry Notary in as-yet-undisclosed roles.

“Avengers: Infinity War” opens on April 27th 2018 in the U.K. and May 4th 2018 in the U.S., so fans across the pond will get this super hero treat early.
