Ben Affleck Reveals Footage Of DC Comics Villain Deathstroke, The Rogues Rumored For 'The Flash'

We’re just days away from both the Telluride and Venice film festivals, and just over a week away before things get underway in Toronto, but before your movie news gets highbrow, it seems DC wants to end the summer by teasing fans with what’s to come. This Friday, DC All Access will be hosting its first all-day live stream event (yes, 9-5) where presumably they’ll be dropping some nuggets of intel. But it seems Ben Affleck is getting out there first.

The actor/director somewhat surprisingly hit Twitter this morning, revealing what looks to be test footage of Deathstroke (see below). Affleck didn’t provide any comments, just a close-up of the character on a monitor. If you’re like me and don’t know your DC characters beyond the folks in the Justice League, here’s a description of the mercenary baddie from the company themselves:

A military man, Slade Wilson was recruited into the special ops unit Team 7, where he participated in highly dangerous classified missions. Willing to do whatever he could to better himself, Slade underwent an experimental procedure that granted him enhanced speed, strength and intelligence, effectively making him the world’s greatest soldier. Following the disbandment of Team 7, an embittered and jaded Slade would use his powers as a mercenary-for-hire and quickly gained a name for himself in the criminal world as the man to call when you want to make sure the job will get done.

Beyond his heightened speed, strength, and senses, Deathstroke’s greatest asset comes from his incredibly high intelligence, which makes him a master strategist and tactician. He is capable of standing toe-to-toe against some of the DC Universe’s most gifted fighters and most powerful heroes. Never content with an easy assignment, Deathstroke continuously takes on tougher and more difficult tasks, constantly pushing himself further and further with an unwavering focus on getting the job done no matter what it takes, no matter how ruthless, deadly or manipulative he must be.

He is, without question, the world’s greatest assassin and one of the most feared people on the planet.

Who’s playing Deathstroke? Is he in “Justice League”? Will he be the villain of the Batman movie? No idea, but perhaps these questions will be answered on Friday.

Meanwhile, Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap revealed on Periscope (via Heroic Hollywood) that the villains of “The Flash” might be The Rogues. Why does this matter? Because among the baddies that have been part of the group over the years — The Trickster, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Heat Wave, Weather Wizard, Pied Piper, The Top — is none other than Captain Boomerang, played by Jai Courtenay in “Suicide Squad,” who had a robbery foiled by Ezra Miller‘s character. So, guess that would make sense.

Thoughts? You know where to leave ’em.
