Beyoncé & Andre 3000 Teaming Up To Cover Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" For 'The Great Gatsby' Soundtrack

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Jay-Z’s role in the music of Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” was clarified. He’s the Soundtrack Executive Producer, and word is starting trickle out on who Hov is bringing with him for the soundtrack of Luhrmann’s flashy adaptation. Hint: He put a ring on it.

E! News is reporting that one-woman power outage Beyoncé will cover the late Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” with Andre 3000. While the news is a little bit out of nowhere, it’s exactly the sort of thing we were expecting and hoping for when Jay-Z was first attached to the soundtrack.

Though we’ll unfortunately have to wait until we can hear the “very different take on ‘Back to Black,’” we’re even more excited now to find out more of the collaborations and guest spots that Jigga has procured for the soundtrack. And lest we forget, J-Hova is also credited as “a performer and contributor of original music,” so yes, he will be dropping some rhymes.

In the meantime, let us know which of his famous friends you hope Jay-Z calls in for the soundtrack. “The Great Gatsby” opens in the U.S. on May 10th, with a plum Cannes opening slot on May 15th. Watch Winehouse’s video for “Back To Black” below.
