Last month, Brad Bird made legions of Pixar fans happy when it was revealed he was finally working on a sequel to "The Incredibles." And it looks like he’s not just tinkering around, but that the project could very well be his next, telling Collider that, though nothing is official, "it feels like it to me, yeah.” And he’s mining concepts he wasn’t able to use for the previous movie and looking to incorporate them in the followup.

“Oh yeah I have pages, a bunch of pages," he said about the status of the script. "I had a lot of ideas for the original ‘Incredibles’ that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie. I’m just focusing on getting ‘Tomorrowland‘ out into the world and playing with the Incredibles sandbox again.” And we certainly are all looking forward to seeing what he cooks up next for the superhero family.
Meanwhile, another big blockbuster is looming for the filmmaker. Bird confirms that he’s been chatting with the folks at Lucasfilm about something "Star Wars" related, which he was rumored for during the director search for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," though he emphasizes not to read into it too much at this point. “Well Kathy [Kennedy] and I have discussed the possibility of — I mean she’s basically saying this is a very large sandbox and other people can play in it," Bird said. "I was particularly attracted to the idea of picking up and — J.J. [Abrams] got very excited about the notion of shaping the next trilogy, and that idea was interesting to me, too. But I kind of — I’m writing a sequel to ‘The Incredibles’ and I can’t think too much farther beyond that. I have other things I want to do as well.”

So, it sounds like Bird is interested, but maybe not at the expense of working on an original project or something else he’s long wanted to do. He’ll surely be asked more than once as the press rounds continue for "Tomorrowland," which opens on May 22nd. And oh yeah, it probably should be mentioned that Joss Whedon‘s name is also being floated around as a possible "Star Wars" director, though it mostly seems to be 90% speculation, 10% fact at this point.
