Cannes Selection 'The World Is Yours' Debuts Its First Trailer Ahead Of Its Directors' Fortnight Premiere

Earlier, we got word on the films that will be featured during the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. One of the films featured during the event is the film “Le Monde Est a Toi (The World is Yours)” French director Romain Gavras. And now we have our first look at the film.

In the first teaser, we don’t learn much about the film. What we do see a quick montage of images that lead us to believe this is going to be one pretty wild film. The comedy/thriller follows a former drug dealer who has to come out of retirement one last time to get his life in order. While we don’t see any indication of the plot in the teaser, the style at work here makes us believe that “Le Monde Est a Toi” might be a standout coming out of Cannes.

The film is directed by Gavras, who is best known for his work in music videos for artists like MIA and Kanye West. But he’s also done feature films before, directing 2010’s “Our Day Will Come,” which stars actor Vincent Cassell. Gavras is teaming up with Cassell again for “Le Monde Est a Toi” and also joining the cast are Karim Leklou, Isabelle Adjani, François Damiens, Oulaya Amamra, Philippe Katerine, Michael John Treanor, and Norbert Ferrer.

If the last name Gavras rings a bell, it should. Romain Gavras is the son of director and producer Costa Gavras, who is best known for his numerous French films including 2012’s “Captial.”

The upcoming Directors’ Fortnight, as part of the Cannes Film Festival, begins May 9.
