Casting: Bryan Cranston Climbs 'The Great Wall,' Aaron Paul Meets 'Louis Drax' And More

nullJulie Delpy is getting ready to return behind the camera with her next directorial effort "Lolo." And while plot details seem to be thin on the ground at the moment, it has emerged that Danny Boon, Vincent Lacoste and Karin Viarde make up part of the cast. Aaron Paul is lining up alongside Jamie Dornan for Alexandre Aja‘s "The 9th Life Of Louis Drax." Penned by Max Minghella, the story "begins on Louis Drax’s ninth birthday, when he suffers a near-fatal fall. In order to reveal the strange circumstances surrounding the young boy’s accident, Dr. Allan Pascal (Dornan) is drawn into a thrilling mystery, testing the boundaries of fantasy and reality." Production starts next month. [The Wrap]

Bryan Cranston and Matt Damon both appeared in "Contagion" and "Saving Private Ryan," but didn’t share significant screen time in either. That might change with "The Great Wall." The "Breaking Bad" star is in talks to join the Zhang Yimou directed movie, with Damon also interested provided he can fit it in his schedule. The story follows two 15th century warriors who stumble across the Great Wall mid-construction: they soon realize that it’s not just being built to keep out the Mongols, but something else entirely. Peter Dinklage is going down the crime comedy road with "The Thicket." He’ll star in the adaptation of Joe Lansdale‘s Texas-set book that "follows an innocent young man named Jack who goes on an epic quest to rescue his sister after she has been kidnapped by violent killer Cut Throat Bill and his gang. Jack enlists the help of a crafty bounty hunter named Shorty (Dinklage), a grave-digging alcoholic son of an ex-slave and a street-smart prostitute. The three track the girl into the deadly no-man’s land known as The Big Thicket — a place where blood and chaos reign." No director has been announced and production will likely have to work around Dinklage’s "Game Of Thrones" commitments. [Variety]

John Travolta, Kate Bosworth and Devon Sawa are stepping into danger for "Life On The Line." David Hackl ("Saw V") is helming a film regarding "a crew of eccentric linemen who do the dangerous high-wire work of fixing the electrical grid as they struggle to hold on to the women they love until a massive storm threatens to rip their lives apart." Filming starts next week. [The Wrap]

John Gallagher Jr. is taking a break from "The Newsroom" to go into "The Cellar." He joins Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman in a movie that "takes place in an underground cellar and revolves around a young woman who wakes up after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. As tensions rise, she decides she must escape regardless of the terrors that await outside." Dan Trachtenberg will direct the low budget, J.J. Abrams-produced film. [Variety]

"Game Of Thrones" stars Charles Dance and Lena Headey have joined "Pride And Prejudice And Zombies." The pair will feature alongside Lily James, Sam Riley, Bella Heathcoate, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, and Matt Smith in this quirky adaptation of the Jane Austen classic that tosses zombies into manners-based drama. Burr Steers directs and wrote the latest version of the script, with the movie now housed at Screen Gems. [Deadline]

Shea Whigham ("Boardwalk Empire") is joining the Marvel-verse, landing a role in "Agent Carter." He’ll play SSR Chief Roger Dooley in the series led by Hayley Atwell. [The Wrap]
