'Crashing' Season 2 Trailer: Pete Holmes Is Looking For Star Quality

Crashing” is back! Hooray? I don’t know many people who are particularly enthused by the HBO comedy, which doesn’t have the water cooler flavor of some of their premiere titles. But maybe that’s the low key, secret sauce that has helped it stick around. However, “Togetherness” was similarly under the radar and the network yanked it, despite very good notices.

Anyway, Pete Holmes leads the show, playing a newly single comedian, trying to find love and keep his career going, all in the hustle and bustle of New York City. It seems comedians are all over the small screen these days, which makes it that much harder to stand out. Here’s the second season synopsis:

With the help of Ali, a fellow rising comic, Pete explores the alternative comedy scene, a world of comedy nerds, apartment shows and no-drink minimums, where he begins to thrive. As he continues to lean on the hospitality of comedy greats, Pete explores all types of comedy, from benefit shows to the college market to roast battles. These diverse encounters test his enthusiasm and optimism, but also promise to make him a better comedian as he tries to survive the competitive world of New York stand-up.

Also featuring George Basil, Dave Attell, Dov Davidoff and Artie Lange, with appearances this season by Joy Behar, Doug Benson, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Wayne Federman, Jermaine Fowler, Gilbert Gottfried, Penn Jillette, The Lucas Brothers, Eugene Mirman, John Mulaney, Aparna Nancherla, Dr. Oz, Jeff Ross, Bobby Tisdale, Melissa Villaseñor, Henry Zebrowski, and Jamie Lee, “Crashing” returns on January 14, 2018.
