Daisy Ridley Says "A Lot Was Answered In 'The Force Awakens'" About Rey's Backstory

The ongoing conversation following “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and headed into “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” regards the parentage of Daisy Ridley‘s Rey. The filmmakers and actors have been carefully stepping around revealing any secrets, with J.J. Abrams saying in the spring that “Rey’s parents are not in ‘Episode VII’,” but then confusingly adding,“What I meant was that she doesn’t discover them in ‘Episode VII.’ Not that they may not already be in her world.” Well, if you think that means Rey’s parents are actually in ‘The Force Awakens,’ but we haven’t figured out who exactly they are, a recent comment by Ridley will help bolster your theory.

Chatting with Time Out London, the actress surprisingly claims that Rey’s history was all there in front of our eyes in Abrams’ film. “I thought a lot was answered in ‘The Force Awakens,’ ” Ridley said. ‘Then after the screening I went for a drink with my agent and everyone, and we were chatting away and I realized that oh, in their minds it’s not answered at all!”

Clearly, pretty much everyone on the planet missed something, and if I were to guess, perhaps there were more clues in that “Force flashback” that were either edited out or obscured by the mystery-happy Abrams. But presumably in Rian Johnson‘s ‘Episode VIII,’ the question will be answered fully, and we can all move on.
