Gore Verbinski has quietly amassed an interesting CV of projects, ranging from character studies like “The Weather Man” to caper pictures like “The Mexican” to five movies with Johnny Depp (including the animated “Rango“). Now he’s returning to horror/thriller territory (I bet you forgot Verbinski also helmed “The Ring“) with “A Cure For Wellness,” which might ruin your next spa date.
Penned by Justin Haythe (“Revolutionary Road,” “The Lone Ranger“), and starring Dane DeHaan, Mia Goth, and Jason Isaacs, plot details have been kept to a bare minimum, but the movie follows a young man sent to rescue his boss from the sinister doings of a “wellness spa,” only to wind up trapped as well, and discovering the evil motives behind the operation.
“A Cure For Wellness” opens on February 17, 2017.
