'Dear White People' Director Justin Simien To Helm Musical

Justin SimienBlazing out of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival with his directorial debut, "Dear White People" (which won the Special Jury Prize), director Justin Simien has kept something of a low profile. THR reports that multicultural multimedia production company MACRO is getting behind an untitled Simien project that will be a musical. Even more, it’ll tackle race, culture, and the American Dream through the eyes of what I can only presume is a famous historical figure, because as of right now they are keeping that detail under wraps. And Simien has even more on his plate, developing a movie called "Make A Wish" over at Paramount, with Anthony Mackie slated to star. So, bigger things on the horizon for Simien, who perhaps wisely is plotting out each career move carefully.

Hopefully it won’t be too long until he gets his next gig in front of cameras, but whatever it turns out to be, we’ll be keeping a firm eye out.
