Disney Developing Live Action 'Snow White' With 'La La Land' Songwriters To Pen New Music

It’s hardly news anymore when it’s announced that Disney is developing yet another live-action vehicle based on something they did before, but what makes “Snow White” interesting is that we haven’t been lacking in portrayals of the character of late. Both Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins went down the fairy tale road with “Snow White And The Huntsman” and “Mirror Mirror” respectively, while Ginnifer Goodwin is playing the role each week on “Once Upon A Time.” But none of those projects has Disney’s touch, or their ability to turn almost anything into a worldwide blockbuster.

As per usual, the mouse house is getting some big talent on board, with Erin Cressida Wilson (“Secretary,” “The Girl On The Train“) writing the script, and perhaps most intriguingly, “La La Land” songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, providing new songs. That latter duo are about to pick up major heat at the awards season, and will undoubtedly find at least one of the tunes they penned for Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone earning an Oscar nomination (and it should be said, there’s not a dud in the bunch in “La La Land”).

There are no directors or stars yet linked to the movie, but one wonders if this “Snow White” movie will connect to the developing live-action spinoff “Rose Red,” about the character’s sister.  I can’t imagine Disney would miss that opportunity to build out a new franchise.
