Dreamy, Electric Trailer For Sundance Winner 'All These Sleepless Nights' Brings That Summer Feeling

As the rest of us wallow in our envy as our peers jet to the annual Sundance Film Festival, it’s good to take a moment and reflect on some of the films of Sundance past. One in particular, “All These Sleepless Nights” has made its trailer debut after having premiered in Sundance in 2016. The studio The Orchard has picked up the World Cinema Directing award winner for a spring release and the trailer offers up a greater idea of the atmosphere to expect.

Written and directed by Michal Marczak and starring fresh faced, unknown actors, on paper the movie would appear to differ little from what we’ve come to expect from coming-of-age films. This is particularly true to Sundance films which have begun to become synonymous with a certain brand of offbeat melodrama. However, juxtapose the emotive and relatable life experiences that come with coming of age with those frankly chill inducing images and the viewer understands why this became such a popular debut. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of mark Marczak’s film makes with a wider, more general audience, but at the very least “All These Sleepless Nights” seems to have benefited from a storyteller who wished to tell a story not just through words but through visuals as well.

Read the synopsis below and check out the trailer.

After Kris breaks up with his long-time girlfriend, anything seems possible and Warsaw is his playground. Along with best friend Michal, handsome and wide-eyed, they roam the metropolis at night, floating from party to party, dancing until dawn in makeshift clubs and city squares. With only instinct and desire as their guides, big ideas intermingle with drugs and sex and one thing seamlessly gives way to another. However, when Kris falls for Michal’s ex-girlfriend, the indomitable and alluring Eva, the relationship between the two best friends falls apart. Determined to find his true self Kris navigates between his memories and future hopes soon realizing that his crusade to understand life has starting to overshadow living it. In a profound and compelling celebration of cinema, filmmaker Michal Marczak captures the very heart and soul of a generation awake enough to dance to their dreams.
