Eddie Vedder, 'Once,' 'Babel,' 'Across The Universe' & Other Marginally Respectable Acts Shut Out At Grammys

Instead the winners of the applicable categories that the Playlist remotely cared about? (or rather felt obligated to care about?)

“Love,” (The Beatles) produced by George and Giles Martin won the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media award. Michael Giacchino’s “Ratatouille” composition beat out “Babel,” The Departed” and “Pan’s Labyrinth” for Best Score.

And Rolling Stone readers were pissed at their last chance to see Eddie Vedder win an award this season as his “Into The Wild,” song “Guaranteed” was bested by the Jennifer Hudson-sung “Dreamgirls” song “Love You I Do” which seemingly came out four years ago. Other defeated in the Best Song category included, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova’s Once” song (they still have one more shot at the Oscars), Chris Cornell’s Bond Theme and Prince’s “Happy Feet” song.

In other news, keen reporters leading up to the event let us know that the Grammys were painfully out of touch (who knew?) and that the Grammys had some outrageous moments! Especially like 10 years ago when the Wu Tang Clan’s Old Dirty Bastard got onstage and cussed. OMG, remember that? REMEMBER THAT???

Oh, those wacky and unpredictable Grammys! We’ll leave the “Amy Winehouse killed it!” and “Feist: Inside What Happened” posts to Stereogum and their kinds.
