First Trailer For Cult Horror 'The Endless'

It’s been an amazingly exciting time for horror in the last few years. From “You’re Next” to “Get Out,” from “Kill List” to “The Wailing,” from “The House Of The Devil” to “Eyes Of My Mother,” from “The Witch” conquering the indie box office to “It” busting blocks, there’s been an impressive range of genre-breaking styles and ways to terrify you in theaters in the last few years, birthing all kinds of exciting filmmakers.

One film that isn’t quite talked about in the same breath as the others, but might deserve to be, is Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead’s “Spring.” Released in 2015, the film starred Lou Taylor Pucci as an American man who begins a relationship with an Italian girl who is secretly a 2000 year old mutant, and it was a strange, atmospheric, genre-transcending, strangely romantic Lovecraftian film that won fans of Guillermo Del Toro, among others, though never quite caught on at the box office.

A couple of years on, the two filmmakers are back, starring in as well as writing and directing another mind-bending genre piece, “The Endless,” which premiered at Tribeca earlier this year and just debuted its first trailer. Benson and Moorhead play a pair of brothers who return to the cult that they escaped as children only to find some truly bizarre goings on (as you might imagine).

Linked in some ways to the pair’s debut feature “Resolution,” it looks to be a unique horror/sci-fi mash-up in a way that lives up to their earlier work, and we look forward to checking it out in the very near future. Distributors Well Go USA haven’t yet set a date as far as we can see, but the film’s still on the festival circuit — it’s at Fantastic Fest at present before heading to the London Film Festival next month. Take a look at the trailer for “The Endless” below and we’ll keep you posted as and when a release date arrives.
