Enter A Vampire Warzone In The Trailer For Season 3 Of Guillermo Del Toro's 'The Strain' [Watch]

I’ll admit something upfront: I only watched the first season of FX’s “The Strain.” The creepy sci-fi horror series admittedly had a great pilot from co-creator/executive producer Guillermo Del Toro, and it continued to tickle my fancy for the next couple episodes, but it wasn’t long before the storytelling grew sloppier, the action became less exciting and the intrigue transition into strenuous boredom. But the premise was interesting, and there were a handful of interesting supporting characters. Plus, I’ve heard from a variety of different sources that it improved over the course of the latest season, so I’ve been curious to give it another shot. And based on this teaser for its third season, it might actually be worth my while to catch up.

Based on the best-selling book trilogy of the same name written by Del Toro and fellow co-creator/executive producer Chuck Hogan, the new season, as hinted by this promo, will see our remaining protagonists, including Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), Vasily Fet (Kevin Durand) and Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley), forced to fend for themselves as the vampiric virus continues its reign, New York City becomes a war-zone and the government abandons all hope in rescuing any survivors. They’re outnumbered and growing more defeated by the second, all while The Master continues his villainous plan. Chaos ensues.

“The Strain” returns August 28 at 10 PM EST for another 10-episode season. In the meantime, check out the trailer below (via ComingSoon.net) while I try to catch up on the last season.
