Exclusive: Soundtrack Preview Of Carter Burwell's Score For 'The Family Fang'

nullCarter Burwell‘s accomplishments speak for themselves. He’s been the go-to composer for the Coens, while also scoring films for the likes of Spike Jonze, David O. Russell, Charlie Kaufman and Todd Haynes. But it’s not just major auteurs who have sought him out for projects. Burwell has also scored blockbuster films as well, including the "Twilight" series and this year’s rescue drama "The Finest Hours." And true to his ability to jump from genre to genre, his latest work is in new territory, via the comedy/drama "The Family Fang."

The newest directorial outing from Jason Bateman, in which he also stars alongside Nicole Kidman, follows siblings Baxter and Annie as they return to their family home after an unlikely accident. When their parents —performance artists famous for elaborate public hoaxes— suddenly go missing, Baxter and Annie investigate. Unsure whether it’s foul play or just another elaborate ruse, the two are unprepared for what they discover. It’s a playful and emotional premise for Burwell to work with, and as you’ll hear below in our exclusive preview, his ten track score conjures a variety of moods and textures to suit the picture.

"The Family Fang" opens on Friday, April 29th and the soundtrack will be available the same day. Take a listen.
