Facebook Cancels 'Sorry For Your Loss' & 'Limetown' As Platform Transitions Away From Scripted Series

Despite strong critical reviews, it appears the Facebook Watch is not moving forward with the third season of “Sorry for Your Loss.” The news comes as speculation centers on the future of the streaming platform in regards to scripted programming.

According to Deadline, “Sorry for Your Loss” is joined by the Jessica Biel-starring series “Limetown” as canceled series not returning to Facebook Watch for another season. The move comes as the platform is rumored to be getting out of the scripted programming game to focus its streaming video efforts on unscripted shows, such as the popular talk show “The Red Table.”

However, even with the cancellations, it appears that scripted series that are still in active development will remain in development at this time.

“Sorry for Your Loss” stars Elizabeth Olsen and Kelly Marie Tran. The series focused on Olsen’s character as she comes to terms with the sudden death of her young husband and the fallout from the passing. While Facebook Watch has, thus far, failed to make much of an impact in comparison to other streaming platforms, critics were constantly praising ‘Sorry’ as one of the more underrated programs of the last couple of years.

“Limetown,” on the other hand, didn’t necessarily receive the best reviews and failed to make much of an impact on critics or fans alike. The series is a thriller about a podcast host that gets pulled into a mystery that she’s investigating for her show. Things didn’t get off on the right foot before the series premiered, as Biel became the source of controversy for what were perceived as anti-vaccination statements she made on social media.
