Fede Alvarez Confirms 'Don't Breathe' Sequel In The Works

When Sony sat back and looked at the spreadsheet for “Don’t Breathe,” they were likely quite pleased. Fede Alvarez‘s late-summer horror/thriller cost under $10 million, but received strong reviews and won over audiences to the tune of $152 million worldwide. That’s quite the return on investment, and it’s not a surprise the studio felt confident giving the director keys to “The Girl In The Spider’s Web.” But they also know potential franchise material when they see it, and we’re going to be getting a follow-up to “Don’t Breathe.”

“There’s…going to be more ‘Don’t Breathe,’ ” Alvarez’s producer and co-writer Rodo Sayagues told ComingSoon.

“We just started, but we know exactly where it goes,” Alvarez added. “But we won’t tell you right now. But there will be more ‘Don’t Breathe’ for sure.”

**Spoilers ahead** Certainly, the door was left pretty wide open at the end of “Don’t Breathe” for a follow-up with The Blind Man recovering in the hospital, and Rocky escaping to her new life with his money. It’s not hard to fathom that once he’s back on his feet, he’ll be looking to track her down. **Spoilers end**

However, for now Sayagues and Alvarez are focused on a taking a pass on the script for ‘Spider’s Web’ so it’s more in line with the director’s sensibilities and has his flavor. So it’ll probably be a few moments until “Don’t Breathe 2” happens, but if it’s anything like the first, it’ll be worth the wait.
