First 2 Clips From Terrence Malick's 'Voyage Of Time' Explore The Universe & Time

Terrence Malick has long been fascinated by the majesty of the universe, the way the bigger world around us, from trees to the seas to the stars, influence our souls on Earth. And for his upcoming, long developing, “Voyage Of Time: Life’s Journey” that subtitle pretty much says it all. And as the picture was gearing up, Malick provided producers Sarah Green and Nick Gonda two quotes, from two major thinkers, to give them a sense of the scope he was aiming for with the documentary.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom the emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand wrapped in awe, is as good as dead — his eyes are closed.” — Albert Einstein

“Is no one inspired by our present picture of the universe? Our poets do not write about it; our artists do not try to portray this remarkable thing. The value of science remains unsung by singers: you are reduced to hearing not a song or poem, but an evening lecture about it. This is not yet a scientific age.” — Richard Feynman

Those are some considerable things to ponder as you watch the first two clips from ‘Voyage Of Time,’ which take the viewers right into the immensity of the galaxy. It’s quite stirring but one can only imagine how much moreso it will be in the IMAX version of the film.

The 40-minute, Brad Pitt narrated, ‘Voyage Of Time’ opens on October 7th, with the full-length version narrated by Cate Blanchett premiering this week at the Venice Film Festival, before landing at TIFF.
