First Look: Bruce Willis In Eli Roth's 'Death Wish'

Bruce Willis‘ last few pictures have mostly been junky, nearly straight-to-VOD fare such as “Once Upon A Time In Venice,” “Marauders,” “Precious Cargo,” and “Extraction.” Basically, movies you didn’t even know existed. But “Death Wish” will see the actor hopefully back with something decent to work with as he teams up with Eli Roth on the remake of the Charles Bronson classic. Certainly, the director is promising to bring the actor back into form.

“We wanted to bring back that great, classic Bruce Willis we all know and love and just do a fun, badass update of a revered classic,” Roth explained to Yahoo Movies. “I wanted to bring Bruce back to that ‘Fifth Element,’ ‘Unbreakable,’ ‘Die Hard‘ glory and have him craft another iconic performance, and I really think he did it. I mean I really think this can be his ‘Taken.’ The fun is watching him go crazy and watching someone slowly move the moral goal post.”

The aesthetic certainly looks appropriately gritty, and transports the action from New York City of the original to Chicago.  And Roth promises the kill scenes are gonna be great.

“I said, ‘I can give you spectacular death scenes that no one else can give you,’” he said about his pitch to direct ‘Death Wish.’ “‘I will give you stuff that people will be talking about for years.’”

“Death Wish” opens on November 22nd.
