First Look: John Turturro Returns As Jesus Quintana In 'Going Places'

When word first leaked this summer that John Turturro had finally reprised Jesus Quintana, his colorful character from “The Big Lebowski,” in a new movie, it was a bit hard to believe. Despite the actor’s passion to play the part again, the Coens had long been resistant to be involved with a spinoff. But perhaps giving up on getting their formal approval, Turturro has indeed soldiered on, and the first look at the movie is here.

Co-starring Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou, and Susan Sarandon, “Going Places” is inspired by Bertrand Blier‘s 1974 French film “Les valseuses,” and follows a sexually charged triangle that forms between three misfits. Here’s the official synopsis:

John Turturro plays Jesus Quintana in GOING PLACES, a film about a trio of misfits whose irreverent, sexually charged dynamic evolves into a surprising love story as their spontaneous and flippant attitude towards the past or future backfires time and again, even as they inadvertently perform good deeds. When they make enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser, their journey becomes one of constant escape from the law, from society and from the hairdresser, all while the bonds of their outsider family strengthen.

No release date yet, but I’d assume the release of the image means the project will be repped at the American Film Market starting next week, where it will be seeking distribution and sales. And a festival premiere in 2017 is probably likely.going-places-first-look
