First Look: Matthew McConaughey & Anne Hathaway In 'Serenity'

Let’s be real, with every casting and film announcement each day, it’s hard to keep up with what’s what. I had pretty much forgotten about “Serenity” until it jogged in the head this morning that it’s the newest film from writer/director “Stephen Knight known for “Locke,” with Tom Hardy, “Eastern Promises,” “Peaky Blinders” and “Taboo.” His latest, “Serenity” is a noir thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, plus Jason Clarke Djimon Hounsou, and Jeremy Strong.

The film is currently shooting in Mauritius, and today it was announced that Diane Lane (“Trumbo” “Under the Tuscan Sun,” “Unfaithful”) had joined the cast. Perhaps more importantly, we’ve also received our first look from the film. Here’s the official synopsis:

“Serenity” is a mysterious tale of a fishing boat captain whose past is about to crash up against his life on a small island in the tropics and ensnare him in a new reality that might not be all it seems to be.

There’s no release date on the picture, but at this stage of the year, we’ll assume it’s a 2018 release.Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway_Serenity_APPROVED
