First Teaser For 'Ray Donovan' Season 5 Doesn't Get Away Clean

While you weren’t watching, Ray Donovan has run for four seasons, and this summer comes season five. And the first teaser has landed for the upcoming batch of episodes.

This season delves into the Donovan family in more depth and promises to maintain the dark and intense mood that the show. Liev Schrieber, Ray Donovan himself, told Collider it’ll be “a shocker. It really is a shocker. I’m afraid that I can’t tell you more than that because there are such critical plot things happening this season […] but it’s a very dark year for Ray.”

So when we last saw Ray, he was dealing with some heavy shit, as always. But there were some lighter moments spent with his family. And this new season will see Ray try his damnedest to get back in with his family and the church after his confession to Father Romero. But obviously, things will get complicated. How? Who knows with this show, but it’s guaranteed to be dark and moody AF.

Joining the proceedings will be Susan Sarandon who will be playing Samantha Winslow, the head of a movie studio, who apparently “has a very, very, very profound effect on shifting Ray’s life.” Other additions to the cast include Adina Porter (“American Horror Story“) as Vicky Delgatti, a fellow fixer; Brian White (“Scandal,” “Chicago Fire“) as Jay, a rapper-producer-actor type; and Lili Simmons (“Banshee“) as Natalie, an actress and movie franchise star. Jon Voight, Ray’s ex-con father returns, as does Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Stever Bauer, Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby.

The season debuts on Sunday, August 9th at 9 PM.
