First Trailer For Todd Haynes' 'Wonderstruck'

San Diego Comic Con is here, and with it comes the expected players: superhero movies, blockbusters based on comic books, and much more. However, one film that seem slightly out of place on the convention floor is “Wonderstruck.” The latest from director Todd Haynes has just as much imagination as anything else at the fanboy mecca.

Based on the book by Brian Selznick (“Hugo“), and starring Oakes Fegley, Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Millicent Simmonds, the film is a wondrous tale, split between timelines, about two children longing for better circumstances. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on Brian Selznick’s critically acclaimed novel Ben and Rose are children from two different eras who secretly wish their lives were different. Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook. When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with mesmerizing symmetry.

After debuting this spring at the Cannes Film Festival, Amazon Studios and Roadside Attractions are bringing “Wonderstruck” to cinemas on October 20th.
