Former 'Agent Carter' Showrunners Making Disney Theme Park TV Show

Now that Disney has successfully made a cottage industry out of bringing to live-action life their animated classics, such as “Cinderella,” The Jungle Book,” and the recently announced “Mulan,” it seems the corporation is now looking to immortalize the actual Disney parks on the big screen. Well, it could be worse – at least is makes more sense than a Hasbro cinematic universe or the future “Tetris” movies (the horror).

Showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (“Agent Carter” – RIP) have sold an hourlong drama to Disney-owned ABC, that is “based on the Disney theme park mythology.” This could mean anything from the show being based on one of Disney’s theme park attractions, or the semi-real mythology of how the Disney theme park was built.

Films based on Disney park properties have been rather hit or miss; on one hand there’s “Pirates of the Caribbean and Jon Favreau’s long gestating, potentially intriguing “Magic Kingdom project about the Disney attractions coming to life after the park closes each day. On the other, you have “The Country Bears,” “The Haunted Mansion” and “Tomorrowland.” Ouch.

However, if Fazekas and Butters’ mystery Disney drama is anything like Ridley Pearson’s novel series “Kingdom Keepers,” then count me in to watch a couple of episodes. [io9]
