If things go Ridley Scott’s way, “Alien: Covenant” will be a sequel to the upcoming prequel. Bear with me. The director has said he wants to make “Alien: Awakening” next, but in the timeline, that movie would slot between “Prometheus” and ‘Covenant.’ It’s enough to make your head spin, and honestly, let’s just hope this next movie is good.
Certainly, 20th Century Fox’s marketing department isn’t slouching on the film, releasing some pretty solid TV spots that do a good job of selling the movie (and there will be more to come on “Alien” Day on April 26th). But let’s remember that “Prometheus” had a good campaign too, though the resulting film left much to be desired for many.
