Honest Trailer For Zack Snyder's 'Watchmen,' Which Turns The Complex Comic Into A Gory Version Of 'The Matrix'

With the first reviews of “Suicide Squad” now arriving (here’s ours), it looks like Warner Bros. has a divisive picture on its hands, but it’s not the first time one of its superhero movies has taken a beating. Of course, this spring the studio dealt with the fallout from “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” a grim mess of a movie that managed to make both of its characters unappealing. Prior to that, Zack Snyder and WB wrestled with fans over “Watchmen,” the director’s visually faithful but fairly empty adaptation of Alan Moore‘s beloved graphic novel. And taking you down memory lane of what happened with that movie is Honest Trailers.

Describing it as “the movie adaptation that transforms the complex characters and grounded realistic action” of the comic into “a gory version of ‘The Matrix‘ ” is perhaps an overly harsh assessment. That being said, “Watchmen” is draped in Snyder’s trademarks for better or worse, including overstuffed narratives, Jesus allegories, mega-destruction, slow-motion, graphic violence, sex, which unfortunately results in something that’s not altogether watchable.
