The Human Spirit Triumphs In New Trailer For 'Patriots Day'

While the world is currently entranced by all things ‘Rogue One,’ the holiday season also means serious fare too, and one film hoping to stir hearts is “Patriots Day.” And this new trailer underscores the emotional uplift that came of the wake of the true story tale it depicts.

Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg (“Lone Survivor,” “Deepwater Horizon“) are back together for this dramatization of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and the subsequent manhunt to catch the perpetrators. Here’s the official synopsis:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard Deslauriers (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (J.K. Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

Featuring a score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and co-starring Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, and Michelle Monaghan, “Patriots Day” opens in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on December 21st and goes wide on January 13th.
