The actor who has appeared in every "Star Wars" film is also the one with arguably the most troubled relationship with the series. Anthony Daniels, the man in the C-3PO suit, has often been critical of the "Star Wars" movies, including the upcoming ‘The Force Awakens‘ —he grumbled earlier in the year that “the secrecy has been beyond ludicrous.” Yet a new profile in Vulture shows that the actor has at least accepted his place in cinema history and is fairly protective of his role as the chatty droid.

“There are times I have felt belittled. And I think occasionally it makes me overly pretentious, clever and didactic. I want somebody to know I’ve got a brain," Daniels reveals. "Most people are allowed to wear their brain on their face, but my face is hidden, and I do such a wacky job. People think, What an idiot, what kind of actor would do a performance like this? I like C-3PO, I’m very fond of him, and if anybody belittles him, they belittle me.”
As for whether or not he wishes his life might have gone differently, Daniels is philosophical. “It’s always tempting to have regrets. I would like to think that if that were the case, a second voice would come in. ‘Yes, but aren’t you lucky?’” he said, going to admit that he can’t complain about the lifestyle "Star Wars" has afforded him: “I recently watched "Dr. Strangelove or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb" again. What a way to put it. I have learned to love this. I’ve become attached to [C-3PO], and I think he’s fairly attached to me. And as you can see there are benefits. A droid with benefits.”
C-3PO will be seen bumbling around ‘The Force Awakens,’ this time with a red arm, and no, Daniels isn’t revealing why. Check out a new TV spot for the film below.
