'In The Line Of Fire’ Is Also Going To Be A TV Show

In The Line Of FireI’m pretty sure by this point, network executives decide their next TV shows based on whatever movie they caught on late night cable. And it seems someone at NBC stumbled across Wolfgang Petersen‘s nifty 1993 thriller "In The Line Of Fire" starring Clint Eastwood, and thought, "Why the hell not?"

Deadline reports that the network has committed to at least script a potential series out of the show, with Carol Mendelsohn and Josh Berman, who teamed on "CSI," working on the project (so tell your parents). Anyway, the mechanics will be the same with a disgraced Secret Service agent and his female partner working cases, while also tracking a bigger potential assassin. So, case-of-the-week format with a bigger overarching plot it seems. Sounds simple enough.

It seems NBC is really throwing their hat in the ring with action shows, with development on series based on the movies "Taken" and "Red" happening. Whether or not any of these will sustain or be any good, time will tell, but if you haven’t seen the original "In The Line Of Fire," this weekend is a pretty good time to catch up.
