Animosity

This was a pretty quick interview with Leo of Animosity, as they were going to take the stage at Club Lido on June 13. After that, they were on their way to Boston to check out Frank Zappa's kids play his songs. Although this interview is short, it still talks about their new bassist (Evan Brewer, formerly of Reflux) and why metal has become so popular.

PL: State something interesting about yourself.
LM: I ride a unicycle. I live in San Fransisco, and I eat burritos. I'm in Animosity.

PL: How did you guys hook up with Evan Brewer?
LM: We toured with his band, Reflux, a lot, and we became great friends. Reflux started slowing down; a couple people went to school, and we've always wanted to play with him. He's an amazing bass player. We had a real connection with his playing, and we were great friends already from touring together.

PL: Do you feel as confident playing shows with new members?
LM: Yeah, we feel actually more confident with Evan. His playing is more in the direction of where we want to be, and he's a real serious musician.

PL: Why do you think metal has become so popular?
LM: Because coorporations are locking into it and exploiting it, pretty much. MTV, Hot Topic and all that stuff has really caught onto it, and its the new in thing. We'll say goodbye to it in a couple years.

PL: If you could live in any TV show world, which one would it be?
LM: The Simpsons, because its the only TV show I watch.

PL: Whats one movie everyone should see?
LM: "The Big Lebowski."

PL: Name one album, besides your onw that you think all kids should have in their collection.
LM: Sounds of Perserverence by Death or Destroy the Opposition by Dying Fetus or Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa. We're cutting out right after we play to watch Frank Zappa's sons play Frank Zappa's songs.

PL: Is there anything else you want to say?
LM: Rock on. Party on. Party on.
