PL: State your name and what you do in the band.
ETID: My name is Keith and I light people's cigarettes, but not well, so I have singing to fall back on.
PL: What bands, if any, do you like that you're embarrassed to admit?
ETID: I'm too embarrassed to tell ya. (I fucking walked right into that one).
PL: Should people be embarrassed about any bands that they like?
ETID: Yeah. Do you want me to name some?
PL: Yeah.
ETID: Um...what are they called. Whats that shitty band from Canada that is super famous and shitty?
PL: Sum 41?
ETID: No, they're kind of like a pop punk band.
Rickie (from Adrenaline PR): Simple Plan?
ETID: Thats it; that band sucks. Anybody that likes or even knows their name should be embarrassed. I hate that band.
PL: Did you go to school to be a teacher?
ETID: Yeah, I did.
PL: How important do you think education is to the world in general?
ETID: Oh, god; its enormously important. I think that thats why the hardcore scene has a very distinctive advantage over a lot of other music scenes. There are a lot of intelligent people involved with it that are writing really creative lyrics and really good music that anyone can look up to and feel proud about it.
PL: Did you end up getting your degree?
ETID: Yeah. I have another three years to finish my Masters, so who knows.
PL: I heard that its not good having your Masters and trying to teach because schools have to pay you more.
ETID: I don't mind getting paid more.
PL: No, but school districts don't want to do that...
ETID: I don't want to teach high school. I want to teach college. I'm gonna keep going to school for a long time.
PL: What, in your opinion, is the difference between book smarts and street smarts?
ETID: Um...a lot. I think that if you're book smart, you're a good conversation piece, but I think that street smarts sort of come into play in any situation. I know people that are really book smart, but have no social skills. They can fire off facts and impress girls, but. So I think that street smarts will come into play in a lot of situations and being on the road, I'm not fully street smart yet, but hopefully it'll get me there so I'll have something to teach my kids when they grow up.
PL: Whats your take on these big festivals?
ETID: I think its great. I love seeing all these people and bands that we haven't seen in awhile that are touring now. So, outside of it being a total circus, I think that its great to see people and a lot of kids getting exposed to bands that they normally wouldn't.
PL: Would you rather play a festival like this or a regular show?
ETID: I don't know. This side of it, you get to play for more kids. We've got to get used to it because we're gonna be on Ozzfest, so we've got to sort of deal with it. But, at the same time, a small club show has more energy.
PL: Do you want to mention anything about your band?
ETID: No, I just think that...oh yeah, we got screwed by Victory Records and they're gonna put out a record of ours without helping us out as a band and without confirming it with us as a band. So, don't buy anything from Victory Records...that comes out with Every Time I Die on it. Thats what I meant: don't buy anything from Every Time I Die that you see on Victory Records. Any other label, support them and support their bands, but you get these labels that are not interested in bands at all, that are just out to make a buck. Thats what they're doing to us.
PL: Last question: have you ever been caught masturbating?
ETID: By God, yeah.
PL: Do you have any final comments?
ETID: Don't masturbate unless you're under the covers because God will see you.
